Dr. Sarah Jane Pell (AU) is an award-winning artist, explorer, performer and sci-art producer. She is designing experimental and emerging practices in sea and space domains to hack, embody and bring human performance and expression to new audiences. Sarah Jane is an Australia Council Fellow, a TED Fellow, Gifted Citizen, an Artist in Residence at the Monash Immersive Visualisation Platform, and Associate Professor at Monash Human-Centred Computing. She is an expeditionary artist, experienced black-water ops commercial diver, underwater simulation astronaut, and researcher producing art in the field and with transdisciplinary analogue crews. Leonardo Labs MIT awarded her Best PhD Art & Science 2007 for proposing 'Aquabatics as new works of live art'. Dr. Pell serves as Senior Advisor (Occupational Diving) Maritime Union of Australia and Vice-Chair of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Technical Committee for the Cultural Utilisation of Space [ITACCUS]. She is a Human Factors test subject for US and EU space companies, and Artist Astronaut Candidate for Project PoSSUM [Polar Suborbital Science Upper Mesosphere].
